FGUA is excited to announce the winners of this year’s Lehigh Acres Rain Barrel Painting Contest. This year’s theme was “Our Community, Our Seniors, Our Water,” and participants definitely didn’t disappoint bringing this theme to life.
Our first place winner is Silvia Carletti who painted a beautiful barrel titled Island Life.
Second place went to Faramarta De Le Cruz and third place went to Kim Wallin.
Winners were announced on June 5th, “World Environment Day,” at a luncheon at the Majestic Golf Club. Now that the cash prizes have been awarded, the rain barrels are now available for purchase through an online auction. To visit the auction and bid on a rain barrel, visit: https://www.32auctions.com/2023RainBarrel and click on the button that says “View All Items.”
Monies raised from the auction, along with sponsorships, will go toward helping those seniors in the community who struggle to pay their water bills each month.
“In this contest, everyone is a winner,” said Donna Lizotte, Community Services Representative for FGUA. “The seniors who paint the rain barrels participate in art therapy. The people that bid on and win the rain barrels get a beautiful piece of art that will allow them to conserve water and save money. And the seniors that are having difficulty paying their water bills each month get some much-needed help.”

Thank you to this year’s sponsors.
A special thank you to our prize sponsor, US Water, and to the Majestic Golf Club for donating the venue for our awards presentation. We would also like to acknowledge the Lehigh Acres Senior Citizens Center for hosting the actual rain barrel painting.
