Monday, July 27, 2015
Each year the Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association (FWPCOA), the Florida Water Environmental Association (FWEA) and the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) honors outstanding individuals and utilities, recognizing their achievements in several professional disciplines within the water utility industry. The awards are presented in recognition of their efforts in publicizing the industry, and for promoting safety within their agency. This year, the Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) – Golden Gate System was presented with the Earle B. Phelps Award at the Florida Water Resources Conference Awards Luncheon, held May 5th, 2015, at the Caribe Royal Resort in Orlando.
This award recognizes wastewater treatment facilities which have maintained the highest removal of major pollution-causing constituents prior to discharging treated effluent. The Golden Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant was also selected to receive the FW&PCOA Safety Award for maintaining an outstanding safety record. The Safety Award will be presented during the August State School Awards Banquet to be held August 12, 2015 at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex in Fort Pierce, FL.
