Tuesday, May 01, 2018
The Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) and Town of Lady Lake announced the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the 2nd Annual Water Awareness Poster Contest at the Lady Lake Town Commission Meeting on Monday, April 16, 2018.
The Florida Governmental Utility Authority (FGUA) and Town of Lady Lake sponsored a water awareness poster contest at the Villages Elementary School of Lady Lake during the months of February and March with celebrating April as Water Conservation Month. Approximately 430 students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade levels participated through their art class. Each week students learned the importance of preserving this precious resource and ways they can make a difference in their community.
At the end of the month the school selected the top 10 posters from each of the three grade levels. Those posters were brought to Town Hall and judged by a committee of 10 who selected a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each grade level.
There was a tremendous amount of support from the community in the form of 20 sponsorship donations.
The nine winning posters will be on display along with the sponsor banner at the Lady Lake Library until the end of May.
All 30 students received a water conservation bag filled with all kinds of goodies from sponsors.
